Guns and Grief is a short essay written by Lillian B. Rubin, which describes issues that come with gun violence. The United States has been the country with the most mass shootings and has the most injuries and deaths due to gun violence compared to any other country. In a single year close to 20,000 Americans suffer nonfatal injuries while 34,000 including 3,000 teens and children are killed by gunfire. She claims that although most of the mass school shootings are males with psychological problems, it is virtually impossible for even the professionally trained to predict when a young person will "blow off steam". It is written in the constitution as the second amendment that we have the right to bare arms, although after all the incidents that have occurred should that be presumably altered or even taken away.
As a teenager that lives in the United State, I have witnessed many news outbreaks of mass school shootings. It is an event that has sadly become greatly known in America. In response to this essay, I feel that the basis of the 2nd amendment should be altered to better our modern day society. When the constitution was written in the late 1700s guns weren't a frequent issue as they are nowadays. Nowadays it is very easy to buy a gun and cause no good. The issue on gun control needs to be addressed strictly to reduce completely the amount of injuries and deaths that come along with it because guns truly do cause grief.
